Want to Win Free Business Insurance for a Year?


At smei we are proud to support the UK’s high street shops and small businesses and we’ve been helping businesses like yours since 2002. We aim to deliver the right small business insurance, easily and without fuss, at a competitive price.

In recognition of our support for the high street and embracing the Christmas spirit, we want to give one lucky winner the chance to win free insurance for a year. To enter the competition, all you have to do is follow the steps below:

  1. Upload to social media tagging @SMEInsurance (Facebook) or @smeinsuranceservices (Instagram), @smeinsurance (Twitter) using the hashtag #smeixmas
  2. One lucky winner will be selected at random and will win one year’s free business insurance, courtesy of smei.
  3. Competition closes on Friday 20 December.

Competition Details

  • The promotion begins at 9am GMT on Friday 15 November 2019 and closes at 12:00pm GMT on Friday 20 December 2019.
  • Any entries received after this closing date will not be accepted.
  • A winner will be selected at random and will be contacted and announced shortly after.
  • The competition is open to new customers, who do not currently have a policy with smei.
  • The competition is open to small business owners, with a window frontage on their premises.
  • The prize will be one year’s free business insurance, subject to underwriting criteria.
  • If for any reason smei are unable to offer terms to the selected business due to the nature of the risk, an alternative prize will be offered and smei reserves the right to select the prize.
  • We may not be able to award business insurance to an individual or entity if we identify concerns about the client/their business/fraud and an alternative winner will be selected.
  • The business insurance prize is available to one client, for one business and not multi polices.
  • The policy must incept between 20 December 2019 and 20 December 2020.
  • Smei is not obliged to publish or promote every submitted entry via its social media pages.
  • The promoter reserves the right to refuse any entry that is believed to be in breach of the terms and conditions.
  • Entry photos may be displayed in marketing material which will be in the public domain, so entrants must ensure that only suitable photographic material is uploaded.
  • Entries will not be considered as part of this promotion if, at the sole discretion of smei, they contain language, imagery or footage that is in any way threatening, abusive, offensive, defamatory, invasive of another’s privacy, in breach of confidence, embarrassing to any person or likely to deceive any person, hateful, bullying, blasphemous, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, threatening, or racist, sexist, ethnically discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable or which constitutes or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offence or otherwise contrary to and violate any law.
  • Entries must not contain any material which is defamatory of any person, or is obscene, offensive, discriminatory, illegal, hateful or inflammatory; be threatening, abusive or invade another’s privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety; or be likely to harass, upset, embarrass alarm or annoy any other person. Smei reserves the right to refuse any entry which it considers contravenes these provisions or for any other reason at its absolute discretion.
  • The entrant will retain full copyright for the entry and wherever possible will be credited and referenced for the image within this competition.
  • The entrant agrees to the use of their submission for further promotional purposes by smei, and for any PR purposes, which may arise regarding the competition.



Competition Winners


  • By taking part and submitting an entry, entrants agree to the use of their photo submission by smei to use in its advertising, marketing, publicity or promotional materials. Entrants therefore grant a worldwide licence to the use of their photo submission and all personal details included, such as name and occupation.
  • By entering the competition, entrants and nominees agree that smei can collect, save and process the personal data and images provided, in media relations and social media, for the sole purposes of the competition.
  • Entrants can confirm that they are the owner of the photo and therefore able to grant this licence to use it. Entrants are also providing permission on behalf of themselves, their family, friends and others who are seen in the photo and entrants confirm that they agree to this licence.
  • If requested by smei, entrants agree to sign (and arrange for the others in the photo or video to sign) any documents to confirm this.
  • The licence is royalty-free, irrevocable and the period of usage is unlimited.
  • Participants hereby agree to defend, indemnify and hold smei harmless from and against any and all losses, and all claims by third parties, resulting from an entrant’s breach of any of these terms and conditions.
  • If for any reason any aspect of this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify these terms and conditions or suspend the promotion, or invalidate any affected entries.
