How to Increase Visibility using the Google My Business Knowledge Panel

When you make a search on Google you may have seen the Google My Business Knowledge Panel (“Knowledge Panel”) that comes up on the side of the screen. For businesses, this small space is their opportunity to showcase all the relevant information that relates to their business and tempt those who have searched to click and see what you can offer.

But how can you make the most of this opportunity and increase the visibility of your business?

Business photos

It is important not to underestimate the power of a photograph. Visual aids can really help promote your business and catch the eye of the people scanning through the list of search results.

The Knowledge Panel will use your Google+ profile picture in the panel and so it is important to pick something that not only looks great but is a good representation of what you do.

Logo

Continuing with the theme of visual aids, having an eye-catching logo for your business is also important, especially in the snapshot that is captured on the Knowledge Panel. Logos work much like images do – not only should they catch the eye but they should also represent what your business does and the services that you provide. Otherwise prospective clients and customers may not be aware of exactly what you can offer them.

Social profiles

We already know that social media is a powerful business tool. This information is also shown in the Knowledge Panel to show your prospective clients that you are present across a variety of different platforms and that you know the ways that you can best communicate with them.

Contact info and business hours

If people don’t know how to contact you and when you are open, then they are less likely to get in touch. Make sure you display, if you can, a variety of methods for contact. Perhaps an email and a phone number so that they have the option to choose.

Reviews

Google my Business allows you to add customer reviews, which enables customers can make informed decisions based on information from people that they trust. This is why it is really important to encourage people who have bought your product or used your service, to leave a review.

It doesn’t have to be detailed and only the intro will be shown in the panel but it could make the difference in whether someone uses you or not.

So now you know more about the small but mighty tool that is the Google My Business Knowledge Panel, you should make sure that you take advantage of the power that it could potentially harness for your business.
